“Ali’s Film” wins Gold Medal at 26th International Visual Communications Awards.

A film that played a key role in helping to set the tone of Dubai’s bid to host EXPO 2020 has won a gold medal at the 2014 IVCA event in London. The prize-giving ceremony took place at the Grosvenor House hotel at a dinner attended by over 600 guests.

The star of the film, Ahmed Al Daheri, a schoolboy from Ras al-Khaimah, has climbed to fame in the UAE for moving performances in several other films, including the multi-gold medal winning “The Turtle”, made for EXPO 2012.

The success of “Ali’s Film” at IVCA was in the hotly contested ‘Best Brand Communication’ film and was achieved against over 40 entries and a shortlist on the night that included “12.29” by The Edge Picture Company for British Airways; “Access Prepaid Worldwide”: The Access Story Radley by Yeldar Ltd for Access Prepaid Worldwide; “Our Lives” by Maverick Television for Health Education England and “Trust” by Wordley Productions for the Nationwide Building Society.

“Ali’s Film” was produced by FQC Media / Big Features for the Expo 2020 Higher Committee. It was shown as one of the UAE’s bid presentation films in Paris and has since been widely watched on the Internet. It can be seen on the EXPO Dubai 2020 website.

The filming team associated with “Ali’s Film” are currently working on new films that will be shown at the UAE Pavilion for EXPO Milano 2015, under the organisation of the National Media Council. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
